So, I've finished the First Dancing Daughters, and am beginning, tonight, the First Dancing Ladies. I admit that the colors for both were vaguely inspired by a couple of ensembles worn to the inauguration.

I've had one of those knitter's disasters. Big project, has taken months. Needs fixing, and isn't easily done because I'd knitted on a sideways edge. I've put it in a bag and put it away for awhile. It's too discouraging. On to Dancing Ladies!

Apologies to the singles, but Paul was actually talking about the Church and Christ. So we're all preparing for the wedding feast. Ephesians 5:31, 32.

I also broke down and purchased some more embroidery floss. I'm running out of my favorite colors!


Some etsy shops are doing very well right now. I've resigned myself to having no more sales until the economy improves. May I be surprised.


I don't think I've mentioned the circular shawl I'm knitting. Elizabeth Zimmerman , the Opinionated Knitter called it the Pi Shawl, I think, because of the interesting and helpful math involved.

I got the wool and needles last January, ( gift certificate from Mr. P for local yarn shop) and tried casting on in the circular way with those Big Plastic Slippery needles, using cotton yarn to practice. Difficult

Then it finally dawned on me that the wool is more grabby than cotton. So I recently jumped right in and tried it. Yep, the grabby wool made it possible. I think I'm in the third increase, for those of you who revere E.Z.

I'd post a pic, but at the moment it looks like a cocoon because the outer edge is, of course, on the circular needles. That probably would interest those who study topography, or possible geometry. Isn't the universe fascinating?

More Creativity

I'm really having fun today. The top photo is of the hand embroidered butterfly to go in the shop. Below that is a better photograph of the embroidered piece,"Neutrophil Engulfing Bacterium", which is also Histology Fantasy 2.

I went thrifting today and had a marvelous find of 4 dark colored skins. They are labeled, "Seal Dyed Coney Skin." They are marvelous, actually better quality than the rabbit skins we have. They are small, so they'll become mittens for a youngster or small woman. Or a small man, I guess.

I knew that coneys are something like rabbits, but looked it up, and am now more uncertain of what I know. Some people call rabbits coneys, I think, but there are other, smaller animals that are a bit different, and called coneys.

In any case, they are fantastic skins.

I've been making mittens with the fur on the inside, which makes them warmer, but these are so beautiful I think I'll leave the fur on the outside, for fashion. I mean, really, if anyone is going to climb K2, they're going to buy scientifically designed gloves, and not rely on animal skins.

India, Dancing 7's and The Glorius Cross

The 7's are ready for the etsy shop.

The Glorious Cross embroidery is finished, but will appear later, as part of a larger whole.

Last night I was rereading some of my older blog posts and wondered if anyone ever read them. To my surprise, I found an email from a student in India, commenting on another blog I had mentioned, about which I had asked for comments.

Wow, the world shrinks. I don't know why I'm so surprised and pleased.

The middle one is a small tapestry pillow used for a Christmas ornament, in pandpvintage.

The top one is Dancing Hexagons, in pandphomemades.

The bottom is Dancing Squares in pandphomemades.

The two photos on top are of small tapestry pillows in P and P Vintage. They're usually used for Christmas decorations.

The two lower photos show two of the new Dance Series. Dancing Triangles and Dancing Stars were a lot of fun to make. They are in P and P Homemades.

We had originally intended,of course, to offer our own creations on P andP Homemades.

Then I became aware that supplies and vintage items were selling well. Trying to be a good free enterpriser, I added them to the shop, and they sell. But now the title HOMEMADES does not fit very well. So I made two new shops, one for supplies, and one for vintage.

Nothing much is listed in the new shops yet. The inventory is still in Homemades.

Moving items to the approprate shop will be time-consuming, but I'll feel better about the shop descriptions.

I'm finding that I have to stay away from the etsiers' Christian chat rooms if I want to get anything done. That's painful because in a short time they have become like family.

I really enjoyed doing my three Fantasies in Microbiology. Pics soon. I just can't find the time(?) to put them in the frames.

So then I started a Fantasy in Histology (study of tissue, for those of you who are far from your Greek and Latin dictionaries.)

All this has been in embroidery. I'm coming to the limits of my floss stash. I have a lot more floss, just not in the colors I want and floss isn't available in this town anymore. So, does one invest in a DMC color chart, to be able to order online? I guess so, if the embroidery will continue.

However, I've been looking at Art in America again, and have become wild about color. I don't think DMC, good as they are, make floss in all the colors I want, and mixing in floss only works if you look from far off. So, maybe I need to think about another medium, one in which I can mix my own colors. Hmmmmm

The fabric above has some of the colors I looked for in my floss stash tonight. I believe the fabric is a silk screen, which explains a lot.
