In McDonald's this morning I had a very interesting and disturbing conversation with a 20 year old young man, x. He attends church and considers himself a Christian, even thinking of accepting a job as a youth pastor that has been offered him. I agree with him that he is not yet spiritually mature enough for the position.

When we got around to John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me

x said that there must be some loophole. God isn't a punishing god. I allowed as how that if we don't believe in Jesus we're going to hell. Yes, he said, but Jesus is always smiling, always giving people the thumbs up.

Read the Bible and believe it.

We haven't owned a working tv in a long time. When I want news coverage, I find it on the net. Then, people I admire talked about netflix tv. I tried it for 18 days. I knit faster in another room with better lighting. I feel feelings I don't want to feel when Paladin charms the ladies. Men who wear black are dangerous, even if they went to West Point and make babies laugh.Netflix doesn't
have the old Perry Mason or Bonanza.

18 days is enough. At 20 it would be a habit.

don't agree with some of the other respondents. Given certain knowledge there are other things which can be logically deduced.

- See the Glory of God in the heavens
- Accept that the level of organization is beyond 'chance'
- Accept that there is order and design to the Creation
- Accept the proposition that there is a Creator

- See that there is a Creator or God
- Determine if that God is still alive
- Determine the nature of that God (loving, vengeful, just, unpredictable)
- Accept that the nature of "goodness" derives from God

- See that God is Good
- Determine if God intended for people to be "good"
- Determine why we are not "good"
- How do we know what is good?
- What would be required for us to be "good"?

- See that I am separated from God
- What is the nature of that separation?
- Does God know about it?

- Is there a way to be reconciled?

We had to go to the bank Feb1 and got stuck coming out of the drive through. Suddenly people appeared and effectively pushed! I don't think they were angels, but they certainly ministered to us. I think that four helped get started home.

Then, in our driveway, we got stuck in a drift. A man with a Jeep came by and offered a tow. Eventually we decided that I'd drive and he would tell me how to turn my wheels and when to gun it. Made it

Then a girl from the salon next door came over and shoveled our porch and steps. Our neighbor with whom we share a drive shoveled it all himself.

I thank them and I thank Heavenly Father for such lovely people.

You do recognize this as a mathematical model of hyperbolic space, don't you? The recipient has a sense of humor similar to mine. It seems hardly possible now, but i counted 11 skeins while making this.

The Day of...

Some of you will understand when I say that Scofield (ok, a Bible teacher) talks of the Day of Jehovah and the Day of Judgement. J. Vernon McGee, if I understand correctly, speaks of the Day of Christ, which is the rapture, and the Day of the Lord, which is the tribulation. So I would think that the Day of Judgement (S) and Day of the Lord (M) would be the same. However, as I go through the Scofield verse chain for D of Jehovah, it's quite confusing, since there seem to be verses relating to both before and after the rapture. Perhaps when Mr. P is awake he can help.

I'm trying to build a light box out of cardboard, tissue paper, and tape. I'd rather knit or crochet one.

Then, there is the matter of photographs of any quality at all. I'm far behind on picturing product. Much thumb sucking (No, I don't really put thumb to mouth, I just pity Patti.)

I've never been to a Tea Party, and I deplore the racist remarks made by some partiers in D.C.

However, more than half of Americans approve of the movement and 62% say it has the right amount or not enough influence on the Republican Party. (I read an AP article.)

There are indeed probably some fringe types who party, but if so many people approve of it, it is the fringe?

The group recently arrested for plotting to kill police are indeed the fringe. Every article I read about it points out that they called themselves Christian. If a guy named Mohammad is arrested for terrorist plots in America, his religion is not mentioned.

I am a Christian, but I do not count myself as part of any group to which the police plotters are members.

I don't like the subtle connections being made by the media and Certain Famous People.

And then there is Israel.

The United Socialist States of America appears to be heading for trouble.

I find Sarah Palin an embarrassment for several reasons, but I do agree with her that We Need to Take Our Country Back.

It's been a lovely evening.

First, I had some wonderful contacts with Christians on the internet. Then there is the usual loving presence of Mr. P. After that, our usual radio station for classical music failed and we ended up with a Christian station playing soft sweet love songs to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Then a good sermonette reminded me of my baptism and early love for the Lord. It also reminded me of my later falling away and eventual death to that life and rebirth.

God's love comes atumblin' down. I am surrounded by it.

May you be surrounded by His love too.

So, I skipped King David because I've misplaced a couple of tapes from my KJV audio Bible, and took up again in 1Kings1. I'll listen to the tapes when I run across them. There is an awful lot of smiting going on.

When, oh when, will people learn to stop worshiping false gods and killing their own children (see references to molech). My false god seems to be food. and pride and... serotonin? That's the "happiness"hormone. Eating carbs stimulates it.

In Numbers, I was again amazed, not to say amused, that God would tell Moses to anoint the priest' right ear (head, in another place) right thumb, and right big toe. I finally got around to asking Mr. P about it. He knows a lot more about the Bible than I do.

It's to anoint what they thought, what they did, and how they walked.

Lord God, anoint my head, my right thumb, and my right toe.

stolen pizza dough recipe

The happy emotion icon pillow is the second in the series. The third is more than half finished.

Our van occasionally doesn't start. Recently, one of the occasions, has us worried because the battery is fine. We can fix it next month, but in the meantime I'm riding little buses around town. It's better than walking. sighs.

This is an angry icon pillow. It's the first of a series of emotion pillows. These will have many application, from simply fun to teaching youngster who are clueless regarding other peoples' feeling.

Then, in P and P Vintage, there is a BIG teapot. It holds a bit more than two quarts. Even more than two liters.

I finished a couple of other projects tonight and will share photos as soo as the Sun shines.

I'm not as far along in The Book as I had hoped. As of now, I'm in Gen. 26/

Recently a youngish person asked how to go about reading the Bible. I replied that some like to start with the Book of John, but it didn't matter where one starts. Just read it all, and when you finish, do it over again.

I've recently been quite disappointed with the quality of books available to us on tape, and the answer to that, of course, is to read The Book. It's entertaining,uplifting, thought-provoking, and a good idea.

I'm convicted, now, thinking of my answer to that question. When I asked a gym buddy how people in her denomination deal with adversity, she replied, "They stick their nose in The Book."

We have five babies in the basement. However the mother is young and the babies are very cold. I don't have much hope. I've tried putting cool newborns in warm water, to no effect. What a waste.

Prayer Stoll, Comfort Shawl

I've made a couple of prayer shawls for members of my family, and am now making one for the Etsy shop. I'm using lavender acrylic, to make a pleasant springtime item. Lavender may also be the remembrance color for rheumatoid arthritis.

It's taking more time to complete than the ones for family because, to reduce boredom in the bleak midwinter, I'm rotating it with a couple of crocheted animals. Buffy Bear will have a nice red heart showing, for Valentine's Day. Timothy Tortoise will have a colorful shell.

Am I suffering from cuteness?

To put it plainly, I think I have been trying to compete with Walmart.

I've had more sales this season than at the same time last year, and it's given me some courage. Maybe it's time I started making more than 50c an hour.

It's time to upgrade my shops. By January 1, they will be more attractive, I hope.

My Favorite Charity

Warm Woolies, which for 8 years has sent wool clothing around the world to children who need it most, will cease operation at the end of this year. It has to do with problems with the distribution system (which has been facilitated by international adoption agencies).

I hadn't actually been active with them for the last year, but will send my last two pairs of socks and a sweater to them soon.

When I lived in Asia, I was surprised to see babies without shoes or socks, and bare to the diaper, in 30 degree F weather, in the arms of middle class parents. When I asked others about it, I was told it was a laundry consideration. Anyway, I learned that babies CAN survive without warm socks in the winter. SO.

Mr. P and I prayed over every garment sent, especially that those who wore them would come to know Jesus as Saviour. God grant me the heart to pray so still.

Spot and Molly are the parents of 8 bunnies. One is black and the others are pink with black spots. We're happy.

I shouldn't say so myself, but I received a knitting compliment today. It means a lot to me because my things are not selling on Etsy, and I begin to worry that my product is bad. Anyhow, a really accomplished knitter and crocheter, who has won firsts at several different fairs, made the remark that everyone has runs when knitting with dpns. I tossed her a mitten and asked her to look for mine. She pronounced it run-free, and said that only six other people in her experience could knit on dpns without runs. (I think there are a lot more than she's met.)

Forgive me for repeating it. It just meant so much to me.

2/3 c orange juice
2/3 c lemon juice
1/3 c. lime juice

Put in 2 qt or 2 l pitcher

Add 12 packets blue sweetener or some syrup:

1 c sugar in 1 c water, heated until dissolved
or
1/2 c honey dissolved in 1 c hot water

stir, fill with water and ice,stir

Fiction and The Real Future

Mr. P likes books by Dale Brown. When I run out of Grace Livingston Hill, or feel the need for a little vicarious adventure, I listen to Mr. P's books. Right now I'm listening to Strike Force by D. B. Makes me think about the future of war in this world. I especially do the thinking during the firefight scenes, while I basically go deaf. When I try reading Sean Dillon books by Jack Higgins, as I tell Mr. P, my eyes cross after the 3rd grenade.

All of which makes me think about the world's future. I had always assumed that the LORD Jesus Christ will return for His people before the nuclear war, until I took a class at UMKC (87?) from Dr. Michelle Stern. It was Radiation Biology for High School Science Teachers. I learned a little about tactical nuclear weapons, as well as seeing photos af the aftermath at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Later I went to the museum in Hiroshima and saw the drawings on display there taken from the same photos. How polite. The photos were much worse.

Then I stopped thinking about The Future. Then I married Mr. P, who thinks about it a lot. I wanted to pray, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus," but I enjoy my life so very much. I believe with all my heart that the next phase will be even better, but I don't much want this phase to end. Of course there are problems, aches, and pains, but I like the thing when taken in its entirety.

Well, this D.B. book and the news from N. Korea remind me of that class from Dr. Stern. So I suddenly thought, what if God let this go on with "little" nuclear wars or even tactical nuclear weapons(ya know, the ones you carry around like a bazooka or the like). Of course, a bullet in the...wherever, is not pleasant either. However, I feel pretty safe here in the middle of America, with few if any gun battles in this small place. (No famous abortion clinics here!)

So, if the alternative is nuclear war outside ground zero, which would be a quick way to die, then I find myself most heartily praying, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus."

Installing the A C

BTW, friend called. We remember good times and agree to disagree.

Before I was married, whenever Sister or I had an a.c. to install, she would talk about getting some man to do it. I would say,"OH here, let me." and with a little help lifting, would do it. Well, Mr. P has installed a.c.'s three times in the last 12 years, but recently admitted he has a hard time doing hardware things now that he's blinder. I don't"help" well, either in standing around and waiting for him to need me with hardware, or in standing around a kitchen and waiting to be told what to beat or chop. It leads me in both cases to fantasies of beating and chopping. (Not, just kidding)

So, the last time an a.c. came into our home, I did it alone, but got overheated and all upset, and insisted on going out to dinner(Mr.P much, much prefers home cooking.) I think I increased my tranq too.

SO, since another a.c. has entered the house in a box, I've banished Mr. P to his reading room, turned on three fans in the room involved, and increased both the tranq and oral diabetes med. I'm doing it very slowly, a screw at a time, taking breaks to go on etsy forums and write a blog entry.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Later: It cools just fine. You'd never know it's 87 F outside. Of course, I used a LOT of duct tape, but that's what it's for, isn't it?

Precious Feet

Before I became an ENTHUSIASTIC Christian in 1997, when I did sex education, I never really allowed a discussion of abortion in my classroom, because at least one student would say,"You're going to hell because you had an abortion!" I figured that such statements did more harm than good to Christianity in general.

I would however, say that from a geneticist's point of view, when sperm meets egg it becomes a new individual. (I never bought the "It's my body.." point of view and was trying to teach that it was bad science at least.)

Well, I'm no longer in the classroom, no longer protecting the feelings of those who have aborted, and while I don't have such a large audience these days, I can at least honestly say what I think. I think this may have lost me a dear friend, with whom I used to mumble, on this topic. In our last conversation she said, "Let's just pretend I'm pregnant. What gives you the right to tell me what to do with my body?" "If you don't think abortion is murder, it's because you don't understand yet." "Oh," she said. "You're right, Patti. We shouldn't talk about this." We haven't talked at all since then.

Well, enough awfulness for one day.

More About Kip

Kip turned out really handsome. When I last saw him, in infancy, I wouldn't have bet on it. (lol)

I managed to call Kip's paternal grandmother today, and we said all the right things. I asked if she knew if he had ever accepted Jesus as LORD. She said that she thought not, which is very hard. She belongs to a denomination that does not believe"Once Saved, Always Saved," though I don't know her personal belief. In any case, we comforted ourselves with the thought that he may have accepted Jesus in his childhood.

She also helped me understand why Donna, once a very close friend, had not responded to my letter. At that time, Donna had been involved in a cultish Christian denomination that discouraged contact with people of other denominations. Even the grandmother could not send cards or gifts at that time.

However, that cultish group does preach Jesus as Saviour, so I know Kip heard the Word.

Again, God bless all who mourne and please draw all His to Himself. In Jesus' Name, Amen

i didn't know him, which was, of course, my fault.

I lean most positively toward baptism of those of a certain age (say 7 or older) but have come to understand that if those baptized as infants come to accept Jesus as LORD, then it took.

So I stood as sponsor, in 1981, and with five others, plus parents, promised to see that Kip would be raised as a Christian.

Then I went off to see the rest of the world.

I felt that my denomination failed me, and thus that God had failed me. I went through awful years when I did not call Jesus my Saviour.

When I married Mr. P in 1997 and became a most enthusiastic Christian (made an unfriend of a good Jewess) I got Donna's address and wrote to ask her what she would like me to do to fulfill my promise at Kip's baptism. She didn't answer.

Reading his obit today caused a lot of distress. I have no way of knowing, or of finding out, though I'm still trying to think of a way, if he became a Christian.

Interestingly, I had prayed for Kip recently, asking God to do one of His retroactive acts(since He's Eternal, it certainly is possible) and send someone into Kip's life to witness to him. Since Donna is Christian, probably Kip learned what he needed to learn to make his decision.

I pray that Heavenly Father will bless all who mourn Kip, and bless the children of Christians who are at risk for being too influenced by this world. In theName of Jesus Christ, Amen

When two people marry, they are making vows of intimacy,purity, and holiness unto God and to each other. By being Virgins they are making a "Blood Covenant" unto God. If you are not a Virgin, the "Blood Covenant" cannot be made but on a Spiritual Bond alone. This opens the door that seems to be a cursed crooked path that many times leads to separation and divorce unless the couple has a true relationship with Jesus.
